Invest time in yourself, your health, and your wellbeing

What is floating?

Floating is a deep relaxation form, an effective way to reduce stress and pain.

Stress often comes from worrying about past and upcoming events. When a person achieve a here-and-now state of mind, the brain gets a rest.

Floating is a powerful way of achieving this state of mind. You are cut off from several senses, the brain relaxes and even the muscles in your body get to relax

One hour of floating can be compared to around 6 hours of sleep.

How are we affected by floating?

You will remain weightless in the salty water, your muscles will relax, and your blood circulation will kick in even in your tightest and most sore muscles. Your brain will become free to produce endorphines, serotinine, immune defence elements and more. Your senses will minimize, and the brain will no longer need to cope with gravity, nor take care of balance, nor outer stimulation.

Many top-of-the-line athletes use floating to reduce physical stress, and to be able to relax before or after a demanding performance.

Where do you float?

The water in the tank is about 35 degrees celcius warm, and very salt. You choose if you want the lid open or closed, the light turned on or off. You can also listen to music, or just enjoy the silence.

The water’s salt percentage is about 30 % (Epsom salt, magnesiumsulphate). Epsom salt contain (among other things) magensium, calcium, coal, and oxygen. It has often been used to relieve swellings and pain. Epsom salt is also good for your skin and hair.

The floating tank was invented by the American doctor John C. Lilly in 1954. Floating was used is NASA’s training program in the 60’s when the astronauts were trained for the upcoming isolation and the lack of gravity in space.
